Oh lord! 6 planets are “retrograde,” meaning they appear, from where we stand on earth, to be going backwards. They’re not going backwards  (obviously) but they are closer to us during retrograde periods, which means we feel them more intensely. This may be true or it may be total malarky. I like Astrology because it gives me an easy scapegoat–the planets–when I’m feeling challenged, and a built in expiration date. This too shall pass, baby! So here’s my advice to you, if YOU are feeling challenged right now…   1) Take a deep breath and look up. This is an easy neuroscientific “pattern interrupt” that helps us humans hit our neurological reset button and feel better and smarter right away. 2) Double down on Self-Care. Take a walk in nature. Get enough sleep. I have appeared on a number of podcasts lately but Surviving and Thriving truly hit home.  During my interview, I talked about my own “darkest moment”. From the interview: With an alcoholic father and co-dependent mother, Allana grew up looking outside herself for safety. Then, when faced with two premature deaths of loved ones, she saw two paths: shut down or keep an open heart. Her choice for the latter helped Allana through the even darker moments ahead, where she has been able to look for the gift and shine in the face of it all. Feeling stressed lately? You’re not alone! The world has been feeling CRAZY. (Don’t get me wrong: my life is great.) But come on… haven’t you noticed challenges coming up a mile a minute this summer? Not just for you, but all around you, too? Delays, frustrations, and obstacles, oh my! When it all gets too much and I feel like I’m losing my grip, here’s what I do: (This video is easier to hear with headphones.) So, my life feels like it’s just been one long game of Whack-A-Mole. One thing after another, just crazy delays. And even after my astrologer said certain things were gonna be great this year, it’s been crazy, insane, unnecessary obstacles with millions of dollars at stake and one thing and then other things, little things, like trying to get my computer repaired for the last month. Yes, we are more than our bodies and there is (in my opinion/personal experience) an eternal component to us that is pure consciousness and power, beyond harm, without limitation. But while we’re here and IN BODIES, the material world matters. That’s our job for this lifetime. Hunger and suffering matter. Nobody evolves without engaging in the challenges of being a wounded, flawed, vulnerable sentient being. Don’t look away. Learn from the pain. Another coach wanted to know why we “kill” the monster… I received an email this morning that was really interesting from another coach in Europe asking why I tell people they need to kill their money monster. This was a funny email to me and It’s a coaching question, so I can’t write and answer coaching questions and private email sto non clients because if I did that, I would burn out! I thought instead I would answer it in a video so that she and everybody else who has this question–because she’s not the only one–so I can talk to you at the same time. Q:  Allana, I have really low self-esteem. I envy all of these empowered women that have all of this confidence. How can I become more like these women? A: Sweetness, don’t worry your pretty little head please… a lot of empowered women put on a good show, and are super insecure inside too. And I used to totally have low self esteem, looking to everyone for approval, seeking security even by marrying it! I’ve had sex to be wanted… most of us have given away our power in some way or another to be liked, feel safe, fit in, be wanted. And there is help! How can you be more empowered? First stop the comparing part to the other women… by comparing you’re buying into superior inferior and your whole life you’ll either be a superior bitch or insecure damsel… instead LOVE and CELEBRATE other women. When she rocks her world, say WOW! Awesome for her! I’m having that! That’s for me! Oh yah! Bring it! What would it take for me to shine along side her? The Queendom of We! The Oneness of All!
