Jessy - Christine Hassler, author of Expectation Hangover, this week on Glambition Radio

If you were 25 and living the high life as a hotshot Hollywood agent, would you walk away without knowing quite what you were getting into? That’s exactly what Christine Hassler did, and she’s here to talk about it all on this week’s Glambition Radio . When we set goals and map out dreams that DON’T turn out as expected, how do you handle that? Christine says this is an epidemic for women right now… and she calls it the Expectation Hangover , which is the title of her latest book. It’s a frank, wise, and so-smart guide for dealing with —and leveraging —the many challenges and curveballs that life throws at us. I can relate. As I began to study success I was originally taught to map out every one of my goals with incredible detail. Then, when a goal wasn’t reached, I felt like an incredible failure. I would definitely call it an expectation hangover. And we had an incredible discussion around this on the show . Christine began her evolution as a Gen Y expert with a discussion group f...

Jessy - Amanda Steinberg, Founder of Daily Worth, this week on Glambition Radio

Take a quick guess…what is the LEADING financial media company for women? It’s Daily Worth, founded by my friend the incredible Amanda Steinberg. And she’s all OURS on this week’s episode of Glambition Radio ! Raised by a single mom who encouraged her never to depend on anyone else for her financial stability, Amanda says she became an entrepreneur at the ripe age of 5. Fast forward to her 20s, and she was earning a huge salary as a computer programmer and living the high life – the house, clothes and cars – but with no money saved (Sound familiar?). Amanda decided that she needed to do something, and that something was to get educated about her own finances – something so many women struggle with. She bravely decided in her words to become ‘the financial guinea pig’ and put her own journey out there for all to see. And the website Daily Worth was born! Since Daily Worth launched in 2009 it’s become the #1 financial media company for women. Through her online space, Amanda and h...

Jessy - “Get Focused for Fall” with Ali Brown, this week on Glambition™ Radio

Glambition™ Radio is BACK! And today’s brand new episode is about getting FOCUSED for fall . ( Go here now to listen .) It was a crazy summer with the twins, but I was happy to take several weeks off to spend more time with them as well as get a few house projects done. Not sure about you, but sometimes it’s hard to give myself permission to take time off (really take time off) – because deep down I feel I am somehow “losing my place in line”. Like the “race” is going on without me. That’s when I take a deep breath and remember it’s not about that at all. My journey is my own, and I can start and stop whenever I wish, and it will still be where I left it. Now, it’s FALL – even though my babies are not even 16 months and not nearly ready for “back to school time”, fall always has that feeling that you should be “getting back into it” after a lazy summer. So for today’s show, I’m going to give you a few keys to get focused , and to help you I’m going to outline three stages of grow...

Jane Wurwand is not only the founder of the #1 brand of skin care in the world, but she’s also changing women’s lives on a global level . I’m thrilled to have her as my guest on today’s episode of Glambition Radio . What many people may not know about Jane is that she is also fighting to empower women all over the world. Jessy - Doreen Rainey, “Radical Success Coach”, this week on Glambition™ Radio

Five years ago, when I debuted my first major coaching program, in walked a gorgeous gal from Maryland named Doreen Rainey . This girl had it going on. I saw she had everything it takes, but most of all how she owned her responsibility for success. That year, I was honored to help her more than double her income in her first business. (She told her story about it at my 2010 Shine conference, and you can still see the video clip here . You’ll see how far she’s come since then!) Today, she’s got a much BIGGER story to tell, and she shares it ALL on this week’s episode of Glambition Radio . Doreen has simply become a force to be reckoned with. She’s a kick ass coach who has built a profitable and impactful organization helping people “define success for themselves and then have the guts to go for it”. At her annual Radical Success Conferences, she’s hosted impactful speakers including Jillian Michaels, Lori Greiner, Lisa Nichols, Laila Ali, Jean Chatzky, and even yours truly. And al...

Jessy - Signing Off for Our First-Ever Family Summer Vacation!

Well, it’s been a whirlwind year as you’ve likely been aware. Last summer I gave birth to the twins, sold my LA home, bought a new home in Scottsdale, AZ, and moved with 5-week old babies. Then my mom moved in with us in the casita in the back of the property. Maternity leave didn’t count as a vacation, and really neither did our winter holidays with family visiting and house renovations. And it’s been a busy year for my business, with more coaching members in our programs and several invitations to high level events for me, such as the recent Forbes Women’s Summit, the Dell Women’s Entrepreneur Network, and the United Nations Global Accelerator event. Finally it dawned on me this past spring… it was definitely time to book a vacation. So here we are… our first real summer vacation with the kids ! I will be “off the grid” for the next two weeks, as I really try to disconnect and relax. We are driving to the San Diego area and renting a beach house, and the ocean breeze will be a we...

Jessy - JJ Ramberg, Host of MSNBC’s “Your Business”, this week on Glambition™ Radio

JJ Ramberg is the host of MSNBC’s “Your Business”, the only TV show dedicated to issues affecting small business owners. She’s also the author of the recent bestseller It’s Your Business: 183 Essential Tips that Will Transform Your Small Business . And, she’s a passionate entrepreneur. You’ll hear all about the company she co-founded with her brother, on this episode of Glambition Radio. JJ comes from a long line of successful entrepreneurs. Both of her grandfathers, her mom, her dad, and her brother are all entrepreneurs! I love the story she tells about her mother… a stay-at-home mom with no business experience, who launched her first company when she was in her late 40’s. The entrepreneurial venture JJ founded with her brother, GoodSearch.com, is a socially responsible company that turns your everyday actions into a way to give back. Every time you do a search, money goes to your favorite cause. JJ and her brother also created GoodShop.com… so every time you shop, a percentage ...

Jessy - Kari Warberg Block, CEO of Earth-Kind, this week on Glambition™ Radio

Question: If a mouse ran up your leg while you were helping the farmer you were dating to push-start a truck (stay with me here…) you would: A. Scream… and run away from said truck B. Scream… and run away from said date C. Scream… and run away from truck and date while noting an idea for a multimillion dollar business Well, my friend Kari Warberg Block’s run-in with that rodent helped her launch a $40 million dollar company. So her answer was “C”. Today on Glambition Radio, how one little mouse, a bottle of perfume, and A LOT of faith helped Kari create the business, and the life, of her dreams . It’s a pretty incredible story. I’ll let HER talk you through it on the interview, as it’s quite comical. Her run-in with the rodent led her to the idea of creating a SAFE, non-poison rodent repellant. And it WORKED. That was the good news. And the bad news… As sales started to take off, the Department of Agriculture took note. And they told her she needed to get her product registered and...

Jessy - Colleen DeBaise of The Story Exchange, this week on Glambition™ Radio

Colleen DeBaise is changing the way entrepreneurial women are viewed in the media. A prominent journalist in the small business space, writing and editing for the Wall Street Journal , the New York Times, Entrepreneur, and BusinessWeek , she’s also been interviewed on MSNBC, CNBC and NPR. And she’s author of the Wall Street Journal Complete Small Business Guidebook . But what caught my eye is her latest gig as the director of digital media at The Story Exchange , a nonprofit media organization that is devoted to sharing the stories of women business owners. And I got Colleen to tell HER story on this week’s Glambition Radio . The Story Exchange is a digital project showcasing entrepreneurial women around the world. It’s designed to help women get more exposure for their stories. She also shares how you can become involved and share your own story on this episode of Glambition Radio . You’re also going to love hearing about her secret curry blog (yes, a blog on cooking curry)…. an...

lynda - She wrote this…

On my desk sits a card I received this year from one of my beloved Premier clients. It says, “Ali, thank you for seeing me as powerful as I really am, and helping me grow an incredibly lucrative business that honors my purpose .” Of all the compliments I receive and results my clients share—from doubling their revenues to reducing their workload in half while increasing their net to tripling their list—this was one of the most rewarding for me. Because I know what it’s like to finally have someone see you as powerful as God created you, understand where you want to go, and what you’re going to go through along the way . (The growing pains are worth it. I promise.) If you’ve been doing a good job of growing your business so far, but you know there’s a big next level ready to be birthed… you’re exactly the type of woman I work with personally. And you may be perfectly suited for my Premier group. Beginning this spring, I have three spots open in this exclusive group—the only one I run...

Jessy - Tory Johnson, Good Morning America contributor and author of The Shift, this week on Glambition™ Radio

If you watch Good Morning America, it’s likely you’ve seen Tory Johnson’s powerful segments that help women advance their careers and start small businesses. (She’s even spotlighted one of my coaching clients!) Last year, everyone noticed how great Tory was looking, and it wasn’t hard to notice because she’s lost more than 70 pounds, after carrying extra weight for most of her life. The process was so transformational for her that she wrote a New York Times bestselling book about her journey called The Shift: How I Finally Lost Weight and Discovered a Happier Life . What’s so inspiring about Tory is that, throughout her career, she’s been brutally honest about her journey. She’s been fired, and she’s struggled with her weight. But instead of keeping her stories to herself, she’s opened up and shared with all of us, and that’s what helps women learn from each other. After being unexpectedly laid off from NBC News, she decided to take her success into her own hands and create job fai...

Jessy - Porter Gale, author of Your Network is Your Net Worth and former Marketing VP of Virgin America, this week on Glambition™ Radio

Porter Gale is a class act, and I’m proud she’s a friend of mine. This Glambition Girl helped grow Richard Branson’s Virgin America brand from its inception into one of the most beloved and popular airlines in the U.S. (It’s my favorite airline for sure.) And her 2013 book Your Network is Your Net Worth has been called “masterful”, “compelling”, and “an instant classic”. I first met Porter about two years ago via a mutual friend, and then I was honored that she interviewed me for her book, which I’m mentioned in a few times. (Ego stroked here :)) Porter believes (and I wholeheartedly agree) that your social capital—not your financial capital—is the most important asset in your portfolio . Instead of worrying about what you don’t have, focus on what you CAN do when you build a network of authentic personal and professional relationships. Your next big dream could be just one connection away. I asked Porter to share her top three success tips with all my Glambition listeners . Here th...

Jessy - “5 Steps to a Powerful LinkedIn Profile” By Ali Brown

When it comes to marketing your business via social media, Facebook, and Twitter get most of the hype. But, LinkedIn is a powerful tool for attracting new clients to your business and impressing your current ones, especially if you are a service provider. Think of LinkedIn as a more professional version of Facebook where you can post links and status updates, join groups, and connect with key players in your industry, and stay in touch with people in your professional circles. Here are five steps to creating a LinkedIn profile that can grow your client list: STEP 1. Be thorough. Don’t skimp on the details. A barebones profile or one without a photo makes you appear lazy or disinterested in using LinkedIn to generate new business. Fill in each section and use specific numbers where you can to quantify your accomplishments (for instance, “For one of my Fortune 500 clients, my services helped increase revenue by 35%”). You can reorder the sections of your profile by dragging and droppi...

ali - “To Attract the New and Better, Purge the Old and Stagnant” by Ali Brown

Whenever I’m feeling stuck and want to attract new and better ideas or opportunities, I clean out my file cabinet. Yes. That’s one big secret! I clean out my file cabinet. Can’t explain exactly how it works, but it does. Just last week, I wanted to get back to working on a project, but was feeling totally resistant. I told myself at least I would pull out the file to work on later, so it would be in my face on my desk all day. When I opened my file drawer in my desk and started digging, it hit me. There were papers, records, and notes in there from abandoned projects, persons I no longer worked with, old clients, an unpleasant legal matter, and even a crazy ex-fiancé! In order for me to mine for the gems, I had to trudge through all my old crap. I had to WORK to find the good stuff. Hmmm. Not good! Physically or energetically. Time to shout “Clear the decks!” and line up the Hefty bags. It was time to create space for exciting new projects, amazing new clients, and titillating new op...

Jessy - “5 Travel Tips for Smart Entrepreneurs” by Ali Brown

Traveling for business can be unnerving for entrepreneurs at all levels. Most of us get so busy keeping shop that we forget to make the transition from personal traveler to professional traveler—and the result is wasted hours, money, and time. Below are a few tips on how to start traveling like a pro. Remember, as a business owner, your time is money! 1. Batch your meetings when possible Let’s say you’re traveling cross-country to attend a conference next month. Instead of just spending time planning happy hour with an old college friend, why not set up some meetings with clients or media while you’re in that city. You’re already traveling in work-mode, and have likely packed business professional clothing, so why not maximize your time? One business consultant I know would announce to her list which city she was going to be in a few weeks ahead of time, and offered one-hour consults for $250 a pop. She rented a small conference room, and booked up a full day that paid for her trip. ...
