Morgana - “Too Good to be True”

I’m actually very concerned about selling something that sounds too good to be true, and I apologize if my client success stories are giving the impression that this is an easy or automatic process. It’s not.

I could never have predicted the client results I share–the time frame and dollar amounts are entirely outside my control.  All I can do is report and honest and verifiable account of client results, and even those are a small fraction of the success stories that come in daily, most of which you’ll never hear about.

But I really want to address this issue of “too good to be true.”

Too good to be true implies I do the work for you or that I can control your results. I don’t and I can’t.

In fact EVERYTHING I teach and do is designed to put the power and choice and resources in YOUR hands, not mine. Creating dependence on me is NOT success, though it could be a lucrative business model.

I received an interesting text this morning that spurred these thoughts. I’m posting our exchange below, and then some more of my own thoughts to you, reader.

xoxo

Today I received a text message:

I listened to you last night on coast to coast.
I have been always told that if something sounds too good to be true that it usually is.
You sound too good to be true but I gonna buy your book!

Here's what I wrote in response:

Thank you. Be skeptical. Never give your power away to me or anybody else. Trust yourself above all else. Go with your gut.

The intention behind my book is to give you the tools to transform your life,
practically and magically, but I always want YOU to be in charge of your life and your results.

My workbook is full of useful tips and tricks to transform your life without it feeling like heavy lifting.
The Financial Alchemy part (that I was teaching last night) is only the beginning. Use what you like,
and lose the rest.

And to you, reader:

There is no magic bullet. If what I teach sounds too good to be true,
it's because a person hasn't done the work yet.

The 6 Steps of Financial Alchemy® are simple, but they're not easy.

You will FIGHT for your transformation. You EARN it.

If someone says they can do the hard work of your personal
growth for you, run away!!!

When I coach someone I can take them farther than they can
go themselves, because I know how to make it safe. I know how
to recognize the signs that we're going too far or not
deep enough. But make no mistake: the client is IN the process,
in the experience, and fighting for her life against her
Money Monster demon.

YOU kill your monster. YOU keep your commitments to your
new, personified Money "Honey." (Or Love Honey, or Health Honey,
or Success Honey, or God Honey... I've seen them all.)

While I know the value I add is substantial, I also never
want to give the impression that I am necessary for
transformation to happen.

You may not even need me.

The materials I've put out there in my book and blog posts may be
all you need. They are designed to make the process easier, but not
easy. It's not supposed to be. What we really want is change that matters
and that lasts.

SMART Goals 101: Goal Setting Examples, Templates, and Tips - Brian Tracy

I think you’ll agree with me when I say: We’ve all heard that SMART goals are important . But a lot of people are left with questions about them, for example: What exactly are they? How do we use them correctly? Are they really contributing to your success? Here’s the deal: When it comes to achieving success, one of the most important steps that you can take is setting good goals. It is also important to recognize, though, that not all goals are created equal. In this article, we’ll take a look at a special class of goals called SMART goals and how you can use them to heighten your chances of success. FREE SUCCESS TOOL: Brian Tracy’s 14-Step-Goal-Setting Guide What is a Goal? A goal can be any objective that you set for yourself and push yourself to achieve. Sometimes that goal may be small (like waking up an hour earlier than you normally do) and sometimes it may be larger (like earning a promotion). But here’s the kicker: While having goals of all kinds is almost

bosanchez - The Bias of Fathers

One day, I was at a Christmas party. And parents were forcing their small kids to sing, bribing them with lollipops to banana splits to doll houses to Boracay vacations. One father — a friend of mine whose name I won’t divulge as it would be hazardous to my health — brought his little five-year-old daughter to the front. Because he even had a Minus One prepared, we thought, “She must really be a good singer.” So everyone clapped their hands and cheered as the music started. Then the five-year-old began to sing. Or at least made some kind of sharp noise.  But she didn’t get one key right. The cute little girl was absolutely tone deaf. From beginning to end, she sounded so awful, the experience was similar to having an endoscopy without the anesthesia. But the father was right beside me, still taking photos, still smiling from ear to ear, his eyes glued to his little daughter. He looked at me and smiled, “She may not sound right, but can you see how lovely she sways her hips?” Th
