Morgana - Thinking about getting a certification?

I totally understand that people will post provocative statements on social media to get engagements or to make a case for their services.
And every now and then I see something that hits me as particularly manipulative and not serving integrity. (I am such a compulsive stickler for integrity!)
Yesterday I saw a statement that really rubbed me the wrong way. The poster argued that coaches (or fill in the blank for ANY service provider) only get certified to get clients, and you don’t need to get coaching certification to get clients.
As a matter of fact you do NOT need to get certified to get clients. You don’t even need to be any good at what you do to get clients. A skilled liar can get
all the clients in the world.
I know this because I’ve hired expensive “coaches” who did not even try to deliver on their promises. They were sales people, not coaches.
That nonsense hurts the whole industry.
Here’s my response to the question of training and certification (you can apply this to any high-paying, skills-based service profession):
I’ve been coaching more than 24 years. I have approximately 10 certifications.
While nobody looking to hire me asks about those certifications, here’s why they matter: the training, testing, and certification process MADE ME A BETTER COACH. I gained skills and confidence back when I didn’t have 24 years of success stories under my belt.

This is why I always recommend taking a rigorous, International Coaches Federation-approved certification program for a new coach. Anyone can promise the moon and get hired. That doesn’t make you a coach. Having the tools and talent to help people from a place of integrity: that’s what makes you a coach.

Morgana Coaching On Stage

Never let anyone talk you out of becoming better at what you do. No, you do not wait for perfection before getting hired (newsflash: perfection never happens), but your clients will hear your alignment and confidence louder than your words. And happy clients bring more clients.

Okay. That’s my soap-boxing for today.

Sending you love, happiness, and prosperity,

Allana Pratt, Intimacy Expert - Stuck In The Middle

Question: I don’t want to be in the middle of this! My boyfriend’s mother is sick and he wants to move back home to be closer to her. His mother HATES me and he wants me to go with him. The doctor’s are saying the outlook is not positive and I want him to be there for his mother but I don’t think I am a big enough person to put our issues aside to endure her. Am I horrible? Answer: Yes, you are a horrible horrible person and you’re going to hell. KIDDING!!!!!! You are magnificent and courageous and willing to tell the truth… and I find that inspiring I think it’s very important for people to be given the option to spend time with their parents as they die because sometimes people die suddenly and you never get a chance to say something; yet, your boyfriend will be able to feel good about the time, effort, and presence he gives her. And it’s also very important for you not to stop living or choose something that’s not a contribution for you and sacrifice yourself for another only t...

Seeing Only Red in a Sea of Blue   In my talks, I often play this game with the audience. I ask them to look around the room and count how many red shirts there are. After half-a-minute, I tell them to close their eyes. I ask them, “Are you ready with your answer?” They all reply with a resounding yes. Then I ask them, “Okay. How many blue shirts did you see?” They burst out laughing. And they try to guess. But no one gets the right answer. Why? Because they weren’t focused on the blue shirts but on the red. The point of this little exercise is to show them that every reality, every situation, every circumstance always has many sides. But we only see one side! Always.   You’re Not a Grasshopper   Let me tell you one of my all-time favorite stories in the Bible. The Israelites who escaped Egypt (think “Ten Commandments” with Charlton Heston) were now at the edge of the Promised Land. Not knowing what it was like, they sent 12 spies to scout the land i...
